June 22, 2019 – Australia

I decided to head to the southern hemisphere for the flag flown on June 22nd. Australia’s flag is similar to many former British colonies, in that is has the Union Jack in the canton (upper inside corner) and a single color for the rest of the flag, decorated with something to specifically identify the land to whom the flag belongs.

In Australia’s case, the flag has large white seven-pointed star known as the Commonwealth Star in the lower hoist quarter. The fly contains a representation of the Southern Cross constellation, made up of five white stars – one small five-pointed star and four, larger, seven-pointed stars.
