This Independence Day, the 243rd anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, the Star Spangled Banner hangs on Mr. Alvis’s flag pole. I purchased this flag at Ft. McHenry, over which Francis Scott Key saw the 15 star, 15 stripe flag of the United States flying after the Battle of Baltimore on September 14, 1814. This flag serves at the flag of the United States from May 1, 1795 through July 3, 1818.
Hanging from the porch are the Betsy Ross Flag and the current flag of the United States of America. These flags belonged to Mr. Alvis and were given to me by his daughter.
