Today, and until her internment, the flag of the United States flies at half staff, pursuant to the Flag Code (4 U.S.C. 7). Prior to becoming the second woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court in 1993, Justice Ginsburg served as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 1980-1993. Prior to that service, she worked tireless to protect the rights of women in our country.
Her years long and very deep friendship with Justice Antonin Scalia was a model for these troubled times we live in. Though she and Justice Scalia were polar opposites on the political spectrum, they were dear friends. They valued each other as people, even when differing in belief about where our country should be going and how it should be structured.
Justice Ginsburg, thank you for your service to our country before and during your time as a Judge and Justice.
