November 26, 2020 – Thanksgiving

Flag of the United States

Today, the United States celebrates the holiday of Thanksgiving. On October 3, 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the final Thursday in November as a “Day of Thanksgiving and Praise”. His proclamation reflects his faith and acknowledged his belief that God is the source of the nation’s bounty.

The tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving will be different this year. We are all sheltering in place to try and protect our community from COVID-19. This year has been different than any other than I’ve experienced in my lifetime. The norms and rhythms of live have been changes for all of us. There is much to be frustrated with and, for many, there is much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!
