Today, the flag of New Mexico flies in honor of the Land of Enchantment’s admission to the Union on January 6, 1912 as the 47th state.
The only state flag to not have any blue or white, it was adopted on March 15, 1925. It ranked first out of 72 in a survey of American and Canadian flags conducted by the North American Vexillological Association in 2001.
