March 6, 2021 – Ghana & Australia

Today the flags of Ghana and Australia fly. The Ghanian flag flies in celebration of the nation’s Independence Day Holiday. Ghana declared its independence from the United Kingdom of March 6, 1957, making it the first black African country to become independent.

According to Wikipedia, the Ghanian flag consists of the Pan-African colors of red, gold, and green, in horizontal stripes, with a black five-pointed star in the centre of the gold stripe. It was adopted in 1957, flew until 1959, and then reinstated in 1966.

Also flying is the flag of the Commonwealth of Australia. I’m flying this flag in celebration of the one year anniversary of my arrival in Australia.
