On June 12, 2901, the Flag of New Zealand was proclaimed as “the recognized flag of the colony for general use on shore within the colony and on all vessels belonging to the Government of New Zealand.”
On June 12, 1990, the First Congress of People’s Deputies adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, formally separating Russia from the Soviet Union. June 12th has been celebrated as RUssia day each year since that date.
