Today, the flags of the United States and San Juan County fly at half staff in memory of Abby Rueb, who passed away yesterday. For almost two decades, Abby was the registrar of Four Winds Westward Ho Camp, which I attended as a camper and worked at as staff.
Quoting FWWH’s post announcing her passing, “For a generation of Four Winds campers, staff, and families, Abby represented everything that camp is. Camp was not a job to her, it was a calling. She was one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. She understood community like few people in this world. She was drawn to building and nurturing community here at Four Winds, but also year round on Orcas, with her family, and everywhere she went.”
Abby was and amazing person and she will be dearly missed.
