Today, the Indiana flag and the Progress Pride flag fly in celebration of Kevin’s Birthday. Kevin is one of the most thoughtful, caring people I’ve ever met. He’s amazingly perceptive and kind. He’s given me a chance to rebuild after I treated him poorly. I greatly appreciate that, as it is not something he had to do. I am so glad he is in the world and in my life!

The current flag is the state’s third and was commissioned in 1916 to celebrate the state’s centennial. Designed by Paul Hadley, the flag was adopted on May 31, 1917 and standardized in 1955. It is defined in Indiana Code Section IC 1-2-2-1.

The original pride plag was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker and has evolved since then many times. The version I fly was created in 2018 to add more of the LGBTQIA+ rainbow into the flag. For more information on Pride Flags, see the wonderful page on the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus web site.
