March 12, 2026 – Family

Today the flags of the United States and the state of California fly to celebrate my family.

I am lucky to have a large family. Some of them I am related to by blood, some of them by marriage, and some are my chosen family. Today, I want to celebrate all of them by flying the flags of my home nation and state. All of my family has a connection to California, some were born here, some grew up here, but have left, some came to California by choice.

My family means the world to me and I feel lucky to have all of them. Some have died, some are still here, and some I’ve yet to meet.

To all of you who are my family, my parents and parents-in-law, to my lovely wife and children, to my partner and metamours, to my brothers and sisters (step, half, in-law), to my niece and nephews, to my cousins and their children, to all who I have chosen and who have chosen me as family, thank you for being part of my life! You are greatly loved!
