Today, the flags of Austria and the United Nations fly.
Austria
October 26th is celebrated as the National Day of Austria. It celebrates the passage, on October 26, 1955, of the constitutional law on permanent neutrality, which has been celebrated as the Austrian National day since 1965.
United Nations
The flag of the United Nations flies in a belated celebration of United Nations Day, which is October 24th. According to the United Nations web site, “United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.”
